Each month, we workshop 1-2 draft papers (one faculty and one student) and provide feedback. Presenters submit their drafts ~2 weeks in advance of each workshop for participants to read and review. We accept presenters first come, first serve. To coordinate a time to present, fill out our Presenter Interest Form.
Workshop format:
- Presenter starts with a 15 min explanation of their manuscript’s rationale and main finding(s)
- Discussants (if assigned) offer 5-10 minutes of comments to the presenter
- Audience Q&A and we workshop the paper as a group for 20-25 minutes
- We typically have two presenters (one faculty and one student) and each draft is workshopped for approximately 45 minutes following this format.
Presenter guidelines:
- We welcome a wide variety of submissions from faculty and students including: draft manuscripts/working papers, book chapters, dissertation proposals, or dissertation chapters.
- Note: Graduate students may submit a finished term paper that they are hoping to workshop for publication.
- Drafts should be 10-20 pages double-spaced
- Drafts should include a working title, abstract, and works cited page
- Draft manuscripts do not need to be polished. Rough drafts welcome!
- Presenters should aim to send drafts to workshop organizers for distribution approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the workshop
